WARLORD are one of the true cult legends of US heavy metal. Formed in Los Angeles in the early 80s and signed to Metal Blade Records, the band carved out a unique identity with their semi-progressive, epic sound — drawing comparisons to Rainbow and Angel Witch while remaining entirely their own. Classic releases like the Deliver Us mini-album and And the Cannons of Destruction Have Begun… earned them devoted followers across the globe that endure to this day.
After decades of hiatuses and reformations — including a celebrated reunion performance at Wacken in front of 40,000 fans — Warlord returned in 2023 with a new lineup anchored by founding drummer Mark Zonder, carrying forward the musical legacy of the late, great Bill Tsamis. Their 2024 album Free Spirit Soar draws on Tsamis’ original song ideas, ensuring the flame burns on.
