Gorephilia is a ferocious death metal four-piece from Finland.
Founded in Vantaa, 2006 under a different name, Gorephilia’s sound reeks of US legends like Morbid Angel, early Immolation and Sadistic Intent with the taint of their native monotonic gloom.
After putting out two full-length albums and other smaller releases tragedy struck as Gorephilia’s original vocalist and founding member Henri Kuula committed suicide in December 2018.
The rest of the band reformed with the songwriter and guitarist Jukka Aho taking up the vocal duties. Gorephilia is now putting the final touches to their 3rd studio album, about to be released in 2020.
Rippikoulu began their musical endeavours back in the late eighties, and like so many of their contemporaries, evolved from primitive punk noise to death metal. However, while many bands played death metal with groovy riffing and overall headbanging attitude, Rippikoulu’s choice of style was darker. Their downtuned metal is bleak and nearly unbearably heavy in its execution, dark and soul-searching in its themes, intertwining faster bursts of chaos with slow, doomy passages.
