What if Peaches and The Stooges had a noisy, DAF-inspired rave rock duo in Gothenburg, Sweden, performing in drag? That is basically what Ängel is about. Nico Teen and Samme Fatale weave an intricate web of social commentary, pop cult flirts and relationship drama into a megalomaniac unity. Their shows have been described as “cathartic, sexy and a lot of fun”. According to themselves, they create resistance through joy in a futureless world.
Sonically, Ängel is a love child of electronic and rock music where sampler, synth, drum machine, guitar and vocals mix and mingle to produce unexpected wonders. Obviously, they’re a sought after addition to underground clubs and rock shows alike.
Chainsaw Holiday
Chainsaw Holiday is a metal band from Trollhättan. In 2021, the band released their first self-titled EP and quickly gained a reputation as a strong live band with a very energetic show. With a new singer and phenomenal frontman, two more singles were released in 2023-2024, Welcome and M.A.D, which paved the way for the band to a very successful performance at the Sweden Rock Festival in 2024.
The band recently released their 5-track album ‘From Below’, which offers a wide musical spectrum of what Chainsaw Holiday can sound like. As it has been over a year since the band last played at Abyss, you will see a pumped-up Chainsaw Holiday on stage this evening.
Sole Syndicate
Sole Syndicate is a metal band from the western parts of Sweden. The band was formed by singer and guitarist Jonas Månsson in 2016 and has released three albums, Garden of Eden (2017), Last Days of Eden (2020) and the critically acclaimed Into the Flames (2022). Sole Syndicate is Jonas Månsson (vocals and guitars), Katja “Cat” Rasila (keyboards and vocals), David “Gus” Gustafsson (bass) and Alfredo “Fred” Souza (drums).
The band has a modern sound with a touch of their heroes from the past. The inspiration comes from a variety of bands like Van Halen and Dream Theater to Metallica and Nine Inch Nails. Although the music is hard and heavy, strong melodies are the most important thing for the band.
On September 26 Sole Syndicate will release their fourth album “The Reckoning” on El Puerto Records.
