Milan Mladenović, a rock musician, poet and artist who composed his songs in the groups Ekatarina Velika, Šarlo Akrobata, Limunovo drvo and Angels breath, passed away on November 5, 1994 in Belgrade. This autumn it was exactly 30 years since then, and the memory of his character and work is still preserved by the association “Deca iz vode” through public events, concerts, media and social networks and in other ways. With a series of concerts in all major cities of the former Yugoslavia, they evoked memories for older generations and brought to the new ones what it was like when Milan and EKV played and sang songs that are already considered a great cultural heritage and musical rock reading of this region. This spring, with a special program, they are coming to Scandinavia for the first time to enjoy the large and high-quality opus that Milan left behind in the form of about 100 songs.
Deca iz vode /EKV tribute band project/ will organize a multimedia program “Memory of Milan Mladenović – As if he were still there” on Friday, May 30th in Gothenburg. The program includes a screening of a documentary film, videos and photos, and an acoustic concert! The repertoire includes the biggest hits and best songs from all of EKV’s albums in slightly modified arrangements for acoustic guitar and keyboard. It will be a tribute to Milan Mladenović and Margita Stefanović, who in 1994 performed the EKV unplugged concert series in smaller venues, and recordings of those performances can be found on YouTube. Milan and Magi unplugged will be performed by members of the band Deca iz vode Aleksa Vučković (guitar, vocals) and Luna Škopelja (keyboards, vocals)
Deca iz vode is often called the best and most faithful to the original EKV tribute that has ever existed, and they are helped in this by several former EKV members (Žika Todorović, Tanja Jovićević, Ivan Ranković Raka, Bole Stanojević) with whom they collaborate and who are often their guests at concerts. Interestingly, the famous actor and drummer of EKV from the period when they were most popular, Žika Todorović, told “Deca iz vode” that it was the only tribute band and project that he agreed to play with because, in his words, it reminded him of the real EKV with its appearance, spirit and energy. They also did an ex-yu tour with him, and in the fall the audience in Norway and Sweden will be able to see him.
The group and musicians work within the “Deca iz vode” association, founded in 2015 in Belgrade and which brings together a large number of artists of various professions who do something inspired by EKV, and the audience will have the opportunity to see fan art photos and video clips created by web and video designers of the association’s members on the video screen. The multimedia program also includes a short documentary TV film “Dečak iz vode” in which you can hear Cane (Partibrejkers), Koja (Disciplina Kičme), Raka (EKV) and other famous musicians and public figures talk about Milan Mladenović and the period of EKV and Šarlo Akrobata’s work, with an emphasis on his importance in music and society today.
