Since their debut album “Secular Psalms” (2020), Malmö-based Abu Nein has become one of the scene’s biggest favorites with their drum-machine-driven gothic post-punk. They received a fantastic reception, which led, among other things, to a nomination at the Manifest Gala for Debut Album of the Year and a win at the Synthsläggan Awards for Debut Album of the Year.
In the fall of 2024, the band released their third album, “III – Dark Faith,” marking yet another step forward in the new darkwave scene. Associations mentioned include names like Coil or Legendary Pink Dots as often as traditional goth references such as Siouxsie & the Banshees. The music is shrouded in shadows, and live, the band is a dark and magical entity that captivates the audience!

Inside their black granite spaceship, the cabin crew moves in slow motion, freed from the constraints of gravity. They sink into the dark depths of the universe, watching with fear and resignation as our galaxy recedes until it becomes a tiny speck of light. In the vast, empty halls of the vessel, the synthetic and chilling hymns of Blind Delon echo.
The project, founded in 2016 by Mathis Kolkoz, presents its fourth studio album, “BLAST,” a sonic explosion that powerfully blends new wave and post-rock. Without a hint of imperfection, aggressive basslines and choir-like, Cure-esque walls of guitars blend to create a unique soundscape, true to the band’s post-wave DNA.
